26 things I’ve learned by the time I’ve turned 26

1. Shit is gonna happen. But however bad you think it is, even when it feels like it’s the end of the world, it isn’t. Life will just go on. And you’ll be fine.

2. The best way to solve a conflict is to smile, be nice or apologise. No one can stay angry if you do that

3. The dream of packing a suitcase, moving to Australia and making it work all by myself is entirely possible. Therefore, any dream is entirely possible.

4. Value the present moment. It will be gone before you know it.

5. No matter where you are in the world, you can find good people everywhere.

6. Doesn’t matter if you live in paradise, the paradise is created in your mind

7. Don’t believe when you say “I would never…” because life will prove you wrong

8. It’s okay to ask for help.

9. No situation is inherently negative in itself, it’s what you make of it in your head.

10. Everything is temporary. That’s why it’s stupid to get upset over something. As if the things that irritate us ever lasted.

11. You’re always just one ocean dip away from happiness.

12. When you move to the other side of the world and let everything go, only the real friends stay.

13. Being unhappy isn’t a bad thing, it pushes you into changing things that make you unhappy.

14. The more you worry about money, the more will money cause you worry.

15. Coconut water cures hangovers.

16. Bad boys are no good, good boys are no fun.

17. Travelling the world is much easier than I’d thought. All you need is courage and some money in your bank account.

18. Don’t worry about doing everything. Just do your best and that’s enough.
19. No matter what happens, I’ll be okay.

20. You won’t find real love through Tinder but you can find real friends though Instagram.

21. Smiling a lot helps in any situation.

22. Working in hospitality simultaneously makes me happy and kills my soul.

23. Vulnerable doesn’t mean weak.

24. People are easily impressed by bartenders.

25. If you want to get better at something, you need to do it often.

26. You won’t have your shit together by 26, but nobody has their shit together, they just pretend they do, when in fact we are all just winging it and hoping for the best.
